KU Student Life Advisor (KU SLA) Program

Program Overview

The KU Student Life Advisor (KU SLA) Program is a peer support initiative designed to assist international undergraduate students in adjusting to academic and campus life at Korea University. The program connects international students with graduate student advisors who provide guidance, encouragement, and a supportive space for open communication.

Program Purpose

Studying abroad can be both rewarding and challenging. International students may experience cultural differences, academic pressure, or feelings of isolation while adapting to a new environment. The KU SLA Program aims to support students’ overall well-being by fostering meaningful peer connections and promoting a stronger sense of belonging within the university community.

Program Structure

Participants are organized into small groups led by a KU Student Life Advisor (graduate student mentor). Throughout the semester, groups engage in structured sessions focused on academic adjustment, campus resources, cultural adaptation, communication skills, and emotional support. Sessions are conducted in Korean, English, or Chinese to ensure accessibility and comfort for participants.

Vision

The KU SLA Program strives to cultivate a more inclusive, empathetic, and connected campus community. By strengthening peer networks and encouraging open dialogue, the program supports international students not only in their academic journey, but also in their emotional and social growth at Korea University.

LTE Language Exchange Program (Learning by Teaching Experience)

Program Overview

Global Services Center is offering language exchange program during the semester for students who wish to boost their Korean language as well as teach local students their languages and culture.
A language exchange involves two speakers of different languages who practice these languages together. For example, a student who is fluent in Chinese may want to practice her Korean. She will then be paired with KU local student who also wants to practice Chinese. In this way, both students learn and assist. Language exchange partners have the independence to structure their meetings according to their needs. This is a one-on-one program where the center matches students based on their study plan and language preferences. Please be advised that this is a voluntary program.
